Sandy joined what is now Watkins Uiberall, PLLC in 1986. As a leader in the tax department, he serves as the staff’s technical director. Sandy stays abreast of federal and state tax developments to ensure each client is fully compliant and receives the maximum tax benefit available.


Sandy specializes in federal taxation and emphasizes his corporate practice on partnerships and S corporations. He also provides estate planning, succession planning and transaction-based services. Sandy works with a diverse client base, including manufacturing, lodging and distribution entities, and high net worth individuals.


As a trusted advisor, Sandy provides strategic tax consulting and planning services to ensure all tax benefits are fully realized in each situation. He has extensive experience assisting clients with transfer of wealth, particularly in the area of an orderly and tax efficient succession of a family owned business. Sandy also works with a variety of organizations on transaction structuring when the sale of a business or business component is necessary.


Sandy began his public accounting career in 1979 when he joined the tax department of Deloitte, Haskins and Sells. He transitioned to the local firm of Brown, Lyle and Blockman in 1982. The firm merged with Uiberall and Company in 1986, which is now known as Watkins Uiberall, PLLC.


With over 25 years of professional experience, Sandy is viewed as an expert in federal taxation. He has authored several articles, including a recent piece regarding the advantages of charitable remainder trusts in retirement and estate planning. Sandy has also been quoted in the local and national media, including the Commercial Appeal and The New York Times.


Sandy is a native of Tennessee and currently resides in Memphis with his wife and three children. In his free time, he enjoys spending time outdoors, hiking and participating in Talmudic study.
